Analysis Exercise
Take three scenes from your script (e.g., the opening montage, the argument with Valerie, the confrontation with Godfrey) and rewrite each one with zero dialogue, relying solely on action, facial expression, and visual metaphor.
Rewrite a key scene (e.g., the brothers' reconciliation or the Valerie breakup) as a genuine argument where each character has a clear, opposing goal and at least three lines of counter-argument. Make sure each character's position is rooted in a personal fear or need.
Write a one-page monologue from the perspective of a minor character (e.g., the Captain, Godfrey, or even the wind) that reveals their hidden vulnerability and personal stake in the story. Then try to convey that same information through action and subtext in a scene.
