Analysis Exercise
Weekly 'Active-Passive Rewrite' exercise: take one scene where Sheila is waiting, enduring, or receiving information and rewrite it so she actively pursues a specific goal—e.g., she tries to seal the crack, prove the document isn't hers, or get a direct answer from HR—and encounter one concrete obstacle. Keep the restrained voice.
Daily 'No-Dialogue Physicality' practice: write a short scene or sequence (5–10 lines) with no internal monologue and no dialogue; convey Sheila's emotional state only through physical actions, sounds, and object details (a hand hovering over a keyboard, the crack's edge under her thumb, the sound of the apartment settling).
Regular 'Opposition Escalation' exercise: take a scene with a passive antagonist/environment and rewrite it three times—first giving the wall/crack a small physical response, then an active gesture, then a deliberate act that blocks Sheila. Keep each version in the same tone.
